Pros
There isn’t any part from clocking out
Cons
Long days work weekend change hours off contract after you start too much work load poor management
Pros
Co-workers were a pleasure to work with, generally very strong headed lads, with things to do with their lives, just stagnated at this stepping stone.
Cons
The managers are amongst some of the worst and most manipulative people you will meet. They are stupid, untrained, lazy and possess no leadership. They will treat employees terribly and bring their personal lives into the workplace- totally unprofessional. They are absolutely dislikeable and if you consider yourself a decent person- know that they are not. They will bring their disgusting lifestyles into work and inflict their bad moods onto everyone- making up rules as they go and trying to make everyone's life as miserable as theirs. One of their favourite tactic is pretending you're not there, example: you say good morning and they will ignore you, you bring up a problem or mention anything to them and they will blank you as if it was just the wind, this is a typical manipulator's playbook. If you are planning to work here, expect this: to be grossly underpaid, asked to do tasks that are not within your job description, put up with managers' terrible attitudes, have rota changes last minute without being asked or told, and only getting one weekend off a month if you are lucky- as the managers make sure they are always off 3/4 of the weekends. On top of this, the whole work place needs to be tested for substance use, it seems to be a thing because it is openly discussed and widely talked about as being used and this is totally unprofessional. In my opinion, higher ups are possibly aware and choose to ignore as otherwise nearly everyone would probably have to leave. Also expect to have to cut your breaks- they say that there is 15 minutes morning, 30 minutes afternoon, and 15 minutes later. This is not true, managers will take their liberty and take as much, but not allow you to eat breakfast, very often you will take your break an hour late and beyond. Very recently they've even stopped certain people going on break, and just making up whatever excuse they like. Emotional Manlets cannot command decent people especially when the wrong direction is set by default. Management has no understanding of real life logistics, they possess no qualifications or actual training for a real understanding. If you compare them to managers at say Amazon, DHL, the management here is totally untrained or knowing in any perimeter. I doubt they even posses GCSE's. Expect to be exploited- a minimum wage of £11.55 an hour where you are lifting 3-4 tonnes a day minimum, you are breaking your back, the world is expected of you and you are treated like nothing. The supervisors are paid £12, but the paycheques look the same, there is no progression or training and I reiterate pay is abysmal for what is expected. Rules that do not exist will be made up as the managers seek absolute control. For a company that made £4 million profit last year, they can definitely afford to pay people a decent wage as they do not even pay rent or bills as a subcontractor for Ikea. They even refuse to offer employees proper safety gloves, boots or a decent pump truck to save their backs. Before you think I do this out of spite I don't, I am just being honest and straightforward- something the managers fear and hate. I have sat with them many times, conveying my ideas in a professional manner, just to be told that its all in my head, that I am being unfair, that they do not possess the skills. I have even been downright ignored and pushed aside. The managers simply do not care what worries or problems the real workers have, they like to rush you and break your back so they can leave early ( they are scheduled till 3PM, typically leave 12-1PM). I have tried many times for a reasonable conclusion and co-operation but they hate you and punish the whole warehouse team how they see fit. We were a team of five and have now all decided to leave because this is genuine workplace abuse, that we have tried to fix through negotiation and chat, but to no avail. If you are looking for warehouse jobs in particular do not even consider this place, go to: Amazon, DHL, John Lewis, Waitrose, Lidl, Tesco, Cenciro- they all pay more, offer real benefits and have proper systems and structures in place.
