Pros
-As the title says, the people I worked with were absolutely amazing people. -If you’re looking to lose weight, this is definitely the job for it. You’ll be on your feet all day and average about 10-20k steps a day. - My immediate managers while I was there (except for one) were fantastic and actually cared about their subordinates. - They allow you to listen to music/podcasts while you work on lawns as long as you keep one ear free in case a customer flags you down. -Pay is somewhat decent (this is both a pro and con depending on how you look at it) - Take home vehicle -Work Phone
Cons
- Compensation: Like I said before, pay is decent ($19/hour starting) but for the physicality and nature of the job that still isn’t enough. There should be hazard pay implemented for the summer months due to having to work in 100+ degree weather. Paid Time Off is almost non existent borderline criminal. Only accumulating 1-2 hours PER PAY PERIOD is just not right. - Health insurance is the cheapest they could find and doesn’t really cover anything outside basic doctors visits. -Upper management: Upper management when I first started use to be fantastic and they cared about their employees. That however changed when they brought in outsiders from the other side of the country. Now, the company is chasing an insurmountable goal of becoming a $50 million dollar company and that’s all they care about now. - High-School mentality: This place is ran just like a high school. There is an inner-circle clique and if you are in any management role and aren’t part of that circle, you’re going to be ousted really quick. Many good managers and employees have been let go for many questionable reasons once you actually look into it and that affect morale is a very negative way. -If you are a tech, you are disposable and replaceable in their eyes. The day I turned my stuff in, they had 2-3 interviews THAT DAY for my replacement. -Equipment is always breaking because they choose the cheapest option -They’re a pest control company trying to run a lawn care company like a pest control company: Lawn Care and pest control are two totally different things. Lawns require ALOT more attention and time than Pests do. Going out to a customers home 1-2 times per quarter is not NEARLY enough and the techs take the full force of upset customers wrath. -The Customers: Don’t get me wrong, I had some FANTASTIC customers while I was there. But the VAST majority of customers were nasty and had unrealistic expectations because the sales team LIES TO GET SALES. -The Office Staff: Some of the office staff are good, but the majority are incompetent and undertrained. This is mainly due to the fact that they fired/forced out many good office members for not being part of that inner circle and daring to speak up about real issues. - Technicians are second class citizens: If you’re a technician and the office messes up on scheduling or something to do with an account you better just keep it quiet and move on. The office can absolutely do no wrong in upper management’s eyes.
