Pros

good work life balance. Good people work with from Director level down.

Cons

Below average employee benefits, average to below industry average vacation allowance. No will power to change to make the company more attractive for potential employees or to retain existing employees. Executive management does not understand how to grow the company in the present competitive environment. Hiring of non industry related personnel has not brought the refreshing approach and change in direction management had hoped it would.

Cons

One of the worst companies I've worked for. If you want zero work life balance, this is your place. Politics are so rampant, attention to the needs of the business are replaced by the cover your ass mentality. Management below the CEO spend their time setting up scapegoats for their poor decisions. Almost all employees in my division are looking for new jobs because of the reasons mentioned above. CEO is a good person, but he is lied to constantly by those below him. Management dwells on the negative often and loudly, and does not hold those responsible for poor results accountable, instead blaming those who had no part in the problem. This has caused tremendous morale problems and exacerbates the existing problems. The vetting of upper management is so poor. One Division president gone in a short time for reasons I will not go into, his replacement has not introduced himself to anyone below his direct reports. Does not even send out a quarterly note to employees, absolutely no communication with his employees. Therefore they get the feeling they are not important, and to Standex, they may be.
