Pros

Some colleagues are great people.

Cons

The rats are fleeing a sinking ship - we are losing people faster than we can replace them, including upper management, long-time employees, and top salespeople. How many people have to leave citing the actions and attitudes of one or two senior management / executives before the company realizes they have a *leadership* problem? Leadership is toxic. All the smiles and "good mornings" are a facade. Leadership will undermine you and stab you in the back if it's good for them and furthers their agenda. No upward mobility. Favoritism and politics rule the day. If you're not in the "in crowd", you're stuck. People who aren't deserving get promoted and people who are deserving get driven out. People who express interest / ambition and don't fit the "vision" are laughed at. Literally *laughed at* by executives. No company culture, goals, or vision. Sorry, but a half day of food trucks isn't going to turn the ship around. Employees are incredibly disengaged. In short, it's a hopeless and soul-crushing place to work and being driven farther and farther into the ground. There are certainly great colleagues and good work to be done, but true leadership is lacking. And it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Pros

Stable job security as long as: 1. You're happy with what you do and what you have. 2. You don't ask for more money or promotions or overtime 3. You don't complain about being overworked.
4. You don’t complain about the terrible benefits and limited PTO

Cons

The whole company is too focused on sales and neglect the quality of the products and their service works. The Northern California (NCA) service group is totally dysfunctional, disorganized and is a disaster. A lot of customers are pissed because the service wait time is exceedingly long. Sometimes, after service, the instruments still do not work. As a result, many have switched to Agilent.
Upon joining the NCA service group, very limited training was provided. If you're lucky, you get sent to their headquarter in Maryland for a training (1 week). After that, you're alone. Don’t trust if you’re told that you’d be paired with a senior service engineer. I've been with the company for 1.5 yrs, I worked alone all the time. Most of the seniors do not share their experience. They want you to experience the same agony that they went through. Work environment is just toxic and very demoralizing. Pay is low, promotions don’t happen unless you fawn over the service manager by agreeing to be overworked. Annual pay increase is not even close to inflation rate - just $1 - $1.5/hour. It’s a joke. No job growth: you are assigned to work with only one type of their instruments (LC or GC or UV). No opportunity to cross train on other instruments. As a result, you get no skills to add on your resume. This is purposely done - to lock you with the service group for life. No real leadership in NCA service group.
