Pros

The only pros I could think of is that you do learn a bit about the business and process of working in a Fashion house. You're also thrown into a lot of projects even if your un-experienced and you do learn quickly because you HAVE to. I can't say it was worth it though.

Cons

Sue runs this business into the ground. She is very very eccentric and not in a good way. The turn around time of new employees quitting was something like 10-20 in a few months. I was there a year and saw so many people come and go. There were many cases of her yelling and screaming at employees for ridiculous things, like ( I can't joke about this) not bringing her purse fast enough from the other room. She constantly belittling all her workers, no matter how kind or skilled they are. She inappropriate and harassing, commenting on workers stupidity, looks, and or how they are no where near as successful as she. As far a work and labor goes, during my time there she was constantly skimping on payments. Often trying to make us stay overtime with no overtime pay, cutting our lunches, or having us drive to her house to work there while she was sick. Sue expected every aspect of the company to wait on her. She trusted no one to complete a task without her oversight and approval, but sometimes wouldn't come into work until 4 or 5, making everyone stay late to catch up. Often you would be waiting hours just for her to look at a graphic and approve it. Most of the time her direction was confusing or just bad, and suggestion designs or theory got you no where. Explaining to her what photoshop can or cant do was pointless. She expected the world. Many of the Product Development and sales team complained with her because she would delay he approvals until the last minute, making their orders last minute, making most of the line LATE. She would then scream and yell (I'm really not exaggerating I wish I was) and say it was the fault of her team. To the point where she'd have the employees cry and quit. No severance pay then. She didn't fire, she drove people to quit. Most of her team was under 25 yrs. I suspect because she could take advantage of us then. Her other employees, the older supervisors (there were 2 when I worked there) were YESmen and did everything she asked, and would gossip about the rest of us in her office with her during work hours. The actual companies process in the fashion world is ancient. Dress silhouettes are still done by hand, usually a bad sketch done by Sue which she hands off to her Product Dev team to spruce (and then they are considered responsible when china warehouses get the patterns wrong). TECH PACKS dont exist here. Many of her retailers have dropped her, because she insists on desiging 70+ peices for ONE SEASON, five times a year. Often when not even 20+ get actually ordered. She costs the company money and tries to make up for it by cutting positions and pay. She used to have 20+ on the second floor. When I left there were 5 left on the team. I do not recommend this employer to anyone.
