I have been working at Redfin full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone in this company is thrilled to be employed, by Redfin. Myself included.

    Cons

We're new to the company, having just started in Vancouver and Toronto. With the thrill of a start-up comes the occasional glitch.

    Advice to Management

Let's kill it, in Vancouver and Toronto, before we expand throughout Canada!

I worked at Redfin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Training, agent preparedness, technology driven, leads-a-plenty, dynamic culture, benefits. Redfin offers some of the best agent training resources and crowd sourcing development in the industry. It's state of the art platform is impressive and they constantly improve based on feedback from clients and the agents who use it. Leads are assigned daily and there is no shortage of busy-ness.

    Cons

Poor work-life balance, lowest pay in the industry, managers are inexperienced at managing people, high focus on volume and performance metrics and short sighted on quality. 60-80 hours per week is the average agent schedule between office time, showing appointments, open houses and managing the pipeline of constantly flowing clients. Its hard to balance quality of life and the team managers offer little support. ... Managers lack the skill of people managing and focus more on beating metric performance. Turn over is high as result.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers not only with years and years of industry success but also those with solid skills to manage teams and a focus on cultivating success through good people management. Managers should not be representing clients - ever. It's a conflict of interest to the team members and drives down moral.

    Pros

If you want to learn and excel there are no shortage of opportunities. Managers are trained to encourage employees to job shadow, get licenseed for free, and apply internally. Definitely what you make of it!

    Cons

Young professionals and a laid back atmosphere can breed drama if you're looking for it.

I have been working at Redfin full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Strong moral compass. How can we better help our consumers. Always exploring ways to better ourselves and thus better serving our consumers buy and sell. Start-up vibe. Allowed to try new things and voice ideas. Very accepting company. Work hard, play hard. Good benefits.

    Cons

Takes some time to get up and running (making money). Takes time and patience to learn the Redfin way and how to work with the systems in place. Really need to do a lot of volume (deals) to make money and they have to be high quality so you receive a good service or else it could take away from what you make. Quanitity + Quality = high stress

    Advice to Management

Be better at advocating for your agents. Reward agents who are following the Redfin values, systems and closing deals.
