Pros

I made some good friends

Cons

Working at this company was one of the worst career decisions I’ve made. The commission structure is deliberately designed to make it almost impossible to earn money, with rolling thresholds that are completely unachievable. They recently made a significant number of staff redundant, but bizarrely kept managers who can’t manage and non-billing consultants, which doesn’t make sense for a business in recruitment. Now they’re advertising roles with inaccurate benefits listed, and I can confirm that you won’t be walking into a warm desk or anything close to what’s promised. Management is shockingly poor, with no real leadership or direction. The turnover rate is alarmingly high, and it’s clear that staff are treated as expendable. There’s little to no investment in the tools and systems you need to succeed, and you’ll find yourself stuck relying on old, outdated clients that the MD secured years ago. I also find it wild that they unfairly dismiss employees without proper cause, even top performers. Overall, if you’re considering joining, think twice. The promises you’re given during the interview will quickly unravel, and you’ll find yourself stuck in a toxic environment with no real opportunity to grow or earn what you deserve.

Pros

I’ve had the pleasure of working at Recognition One twice—first from 2015 to 2019, and most recently from 2023 until July 2024. Returning to Recognition One felt like coming home to a business that genuinely values its people and cultivates a strong, supportive team culture. Recognition One is an exceptional place to work. Whilst remote, the team collaboration is second to none—everyone gets on well, supports each other, and works hard toward shared goals. The environment is positive, fast-paced, and full of energy, and you’re constantly surrounded by motivated professionals who want to see each other succeed. Leadership here is fantastic. Jay, in particular, is an outstanding manager—he’s incredibly supportive, always willing to share knowledge, and is genuinely invested in your development. I learned a great deal from him, and his leadership style brings out the best in his teams. In terms of career development, there’s a lot of opportunity for growth and learning at Recognition One. You’re given the flexibility to work remotely, but still feel deeply connected to your team and your clients. One of the most rewarding aspects for me during my time at Recognition One was the chance to act as a true extension of the organisations I partnered with—many of which are VC-backed start-ups or scale-ups. You’re not just filling roles; you’re helping to shape and execute your clients’ growth and hiring strategies across sales, pre-sales, and professional services functions. If you’re looking to work with great people, build meaningful relationships with innovative clients, and be part of a business that values your contribution and supports your growth, I couldn’t recommend Jay and the team at Recognition One more highly.

Cons

From my perspective there are no cons.

Pros

There is not a single pros working for this company.

Cons

First off, your chances of getting unfairly dismissed with no reason given, is quite high. It happened to me and 2 others. Bring in a big deal or even top of the sales leaderboard - fired! I know of an ex-colleague winning a case against them too about this. Secondly, the commission scheme is diabolical that you'll POSSIBLY get your money months after placing a candidate, and even then, there'll be some reason to not pay out. Thirdly, and I can go on with many more reasons to help you not choose them as an employer or even customer, look at the high turnover of staff on LI. With the exception of 4 staff that have been there for years, the rest are just pawns to the business and you'll never earn from what empty promises they tell you. DO NOT work for this man!
