I worked at PropertySpark for almost 1.5 years in a marketing and sales management role. I worked closely with the CEO to design, and structure our marketing and sales processes right from Day 1.
I loved the autonomy that I was given to propose and implement my own strategies from ideation through to implementation. Being a small company and working closely everyday with our CEO and COO, I also had the opportunity to get my feet wet in other parts of the business - from product development, to customer success. I think that is one of the amazing features of working at a startup in general. Sam (CEO) and Nimit (COO) were completely transparent in their work and always open to new ideas from anyone in the company. This to me was a big differentiator than to other larger startups I've worked with in the past, or have heard through colleagues about their experiences.
The office culture was exciting and fun on a regular basis. Work hours were flexible and everyone was committed to getting the job done and learning rapidly to compete in the market.
If you're looking for a an opportunity to grow as someone interested in business, PropertySpark did that exactly for me. I learned skills and tools that have allowed me to move forward in starting my own business in the digital marketing space (hence why I am no longer there and leaving this review).
Best work decision I have made in my life to date.
Cons
You're expected to put in the work and get stuff done, on time and with high quality. This is expected at any job though, so not even a con in my books.
I worked at PropertySpark for four months after graduation, and have to say that my time with the team has been invaluable to my self-development. The team is small, so there are lots of opportunities to bond and joke around with the people you work with, including the leadership team. Management is very transparent with what is going on with the business and will involve you in the decision making process if there is something valuable that you can add. This creates a culture that is extremely motivated, but is still relaxed. During my time at PropertySpark, I had a lot of 1-on-1 sessions with the CEO, where we spoke about the business and he provided advice and encouragement on my personal development - I don’t think you could get these moments at a larger corporation and consider them invaluable to my personal development. All in all, I would highly recommend working at PropertySpark if you are interested in startups and want to kickstart your career in the field.
Cons
It’s a start-up, so don’t expect a cushy job. However, if you are willing to put in the time, it is well worth the effort in terms of the development you will get out of it.
