Pros

The only benefit I got from working for this truly awful company, was that I made some good friends at client sites.

Cons

I worked for plan-net as a helpdesk analyst, when they had a high profile banking client (surprisingly they lost the contract). The only way to sum up my experience, is that, you are a pawn on a chessboard. Management are only concerned with how much profit they can milk a client, not with staff satisfaction. I was particularly skilled at my job, and was one of the lucky few that got offered a team leader position. The flipside being that there was no salary increase....!

Pros

Honestly, it's a little difficult to find much that should be considered a "Pro" The closest I can think of to a pro is that depending on which site you work, you will only rarely have to talk to anyone at Plan-Net - the majority of the time you will be working with clients directly. If you start in the multi-site team it is a good opportunity to learn a wide variety of technologies and processes, which can stand you in good stead. Their recruitment process is bizarrely easy. I've spoken to multiple recent starters in the last year who advised they had next to no interview or technical test. They shown up, and were told to go straight to the client site. If you do not do well in interviews, this is a plus.

Cons

You get a monthly review from a plan-net staff member who has talked to the client. This can vary from valuable, to an outright farce. A number of times the minutes from my monthly reviews were identical. With their lack of recruitment process, Plan-net has no concept of quality control. As long as you look the part, and have a reasonable CV, you are hired. I've spoken to clients who have bemoaned the lack of quality sent from Plan-net to work with them. You swiftly discover that no matter how well you are regarded at the client site, no matter how hard you work, and how much effort you put in, recognition from plan-net is hard to come by. Forget about getting a credible pay rise, and look forward to working with peers at sites who enjoy much fairer pay and treatment. You'll get some kind words - if you are lucky Of course, if you talk about leaving, then even that tokenism is thrown out of the window. They don't see you as a valued member of staff, but simply a resource that occupies a desk that can be easily replaced with some other chump.

Pros

Fun times with colleagues all on a similar wave length.

Cons

My overall experience with Plan-net was pretty dire, as was the experience with all my colleagues (whom have all left FYI). It is a great place to begin your career, as you work on some high profile sites, but thats where the benefits end. Limited career progression coupled with poor pay makes it an unattractive place to work. I understand from a former colleague that has recently left, that they are experiencing a staffing crisis, which would explain the fake reviews. This company is all about profit and no due care for their staff. Never again will i work for a managed solutions provider.
