Pros
We are the custodians of a Merit System of hiring which provides a fair, non-political, system for hiring the best qualified candidates. The Commissions mission which promotes a Merit System of hiring attracts employees who believe in the system; There is a strong sense of purpose and pride in what we accomplish.
Cons
There are many people in Pennsylvania state government who would like to see the Commission abolished. These detractors sometimes communicate mis-information about the Commission with the goal to discredit the Merit system of hiring. There agenda is to return to a patronage system of hiring which would ultimately be a disservice to the citizens of Pennsylvania.
