I have been working at PathFactory full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Senior leadership is really invested in the product, the well-being of the company, and the growth of the people that work here - Path to promotion is there if you're vocal about it - Things happen very quickly, and leadership isn't afraid to call people out (I love this) - The product is SOLID and our team is innovative... biggest pro IMO - Pay matches the market, but might be slightly higher for some roles

    Cons

    - We experienced layoffs and serious turnover (this happens in tech companies) - We've cut back on our traditionally pricy company socials... I'm sure we'll be more invested in these as we grow - Sales is filled with ups and downs, but that's just the job

I have been working at PathFactory full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have had the pleasure of working at PathFactory for the last few years and have seen the company grow from 15 people to close to 100. I have grown my career here and feel so lucky to be a Pathie. When people ask me about PathFactory I say that this experience has been like my own version of an MBA - there have been changes in leadership, changes in product vision/GTM, changes in even our name & brand etc. all of which is extremely common in startups. I could never replace this experience and all I have learned here from some of the best in SaaS. This place is preparing me for a lifelong career in SaaS and for the realities of building a high growth company. Very thankful to be working side by side with such intelligent, thoughtful colleagues who I learn so much from.

    Cons

I have seen the cons on glassdoor include things like "fast-paced", "always busy", and "lots of change"- all of which I consider things you sign up for when you join a company of this size and in this stage of growth. (Anyone who tells you otherwise does not know what they're talking about). However, if all of these things are not for you, and you want a predictable/slower environment, perhaps a startup/high growth company isn't the right place for you.

I worked at PathFactory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - As always, the people. Plenty of very talented and friendly staff, always willing to help and generally look out for each other. - The co-founders are both great guys.

    Cons

    - Incredibly flat company structure, and you will have very little say in what you or team can do. - A lot of lip service from upper management with a lot of nice buzzwords about culture etc, but it's in direct contradiction to how the company is run. Feedback consistently falls on deaf ears. Personal favourite quote in response to a question about improving benefits plan was "but we got you a ping pong table" without a hint of irony. - You will be underpaid and overworked (which is standard for tech I guess), but it's far worse here than elsewhere. - I could never quite figure out the exact reasons, but not one member of staff feels truly valued in any way. Just a group of people used as pawns to make a board of directors & investors happy. Most "water cooler" chat is related to this sentiment.

Thank you for your feedback. While I love to hear you like our staff I am sad to hear you feel upper management is not listening to feedback. I want to assure you they value what our employees have to say. A ping pong table was bought last year only for the purpose of having fun in the office, I am sorry you felt it was disingenuous as that was not the intention. We review our benefits plan annually and ensure it is comprehensive and matches or exceeds those of our competitors in our industry. In fact, we added HumanaCare just last December as we found the mental health coverage of most plans did not provide the benefits we wanted for our employees. I wish I could have helped you use our benefits to its full potential. We are always happy to hear suggestions on what can be improved and encourage you to reach out if you’d like to provide more details.

I have been working at PathFactory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You work with colleagues around you who are generally supportive, and work life balance is great. Overtime generally does not exist, and when it does, there is some compensation. The office is dog-friendly, and there's catered lunch on Fridays. The general colleagues you work with are almost like a family and are generally very kind.

    Cons

Compensation is on the low end of the spectrum, especially when you factor in things like benefits (EI payments are only topped up by $357/week for the first sixteen weeks only, for example), or even the laptops we work on, which are the lowest-end 13'' MacBook Pro. We have lost productivity because our development machines are insufficient. We also haven't seen any raises in the last year and a half, and while I don't expect a 20% increase, I would at least think one just for inflation is more than a reasonable ask. My supervisor has no idea why his requests for salary adjustments have been muted. Several within the department have long deserved promotions and how to get to the next level has been unclear from high up. There was a change of guard two months ago. Before the change of regime, working in R&D, to say the least, was pretty bad. There was a lot of toxicity and finger-pointing, and some people left due to that situation. There was also one round of layoffs due to a missed sales quarter. The new regime came in. Since then, a second round of layoffs occured, and turnover has also greatly increased, with 2-3 people leaving most weeks since. Half of the executives have either been let go or have, well left. Some were critical and their work effectively went unnoticed, which we now have to backfill. This has been causing a major pain point for us at the moment. Our overall headcount is now almost 30% below our headcount just in January alone. Much of the said family earlier is gone. Moreover, part of the second round of layoffs was supposedly to free up additional cash to invest in R&D, with insistence we hire developers from India, but there has been very little communication about our direction and the next steps with respect to that and supposedly even the highest-up in R&D don't really know what's going on.

I have been working at PathFactory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Interesting product - at least before new CEO and COO joined the company. Hard to say what direction the platform will continue to take.

    Cons

Management has a very difficult time being honest - the organization has been letting employees go left, right and center all year. They will often say, please do not be concerned as this is the last wave of restructuring and let the very same people go the following week. Lets not blatantly lie to employees about the state of affairs at PathFactory. Terrible lack of diversity in management, and I've noticed that employees "randomly" terminated without due cause are often POC despite outperforming others on the team. Really awful company culture and attitude. I believe the organization used to be a great place to work but it's now just a bunch of disgruntled employees who are upset, lack direction from management, and unsure of their future at PF. Employees were asked to voluntarily give blood to help our former CEO. I hope he appreciates the amount of time and effort his employees put into this endeavor in his time of need, many of whom he terminated shortly thereafter. I think that is pretty unethical.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand there have been a lot of changes within the organization with our new CEO and COO and those changes are not always easy to adjust to. We have had a downsizing this year and that was an extremely tough decision our leadership team made in hopes to find success moving forward. As far as our terminated employees, we do not share the details behind the reasons with everyone in the organization as we would like to maintain confidentiality with the individuals it directly impacts. PathFactory is committed to having a diverse workforce as we believe it allows us to have diversity of thought and can lead to an improved culture and overall success. I am sorry if your experience with us did not reflect that. With our former CEO going through a very difficult health issue, we decided to promote a blood drive. In no way did we ask people to donate blood who didn’t want to and I am sorry if you felt that it was disingenuous in any way. We know there is a blood shortage in Canada and wanted to recognize the individuals who wanted to help out. I know this was a very comforting thought to our former CEO when he went through his surgeries knowing that we were all rooting for him. We will make sure to voice your concerns with our management team in hopes we can do better and create a better environment to work in. Additionally, please feel free to reach out to Employee Experience if you would like to discuss this in further detail, we are always open to feedback.

I have been working at PathFactory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

PathFactory has a huge impact on its customer's success, is an exciting tool to work with and there is nothing like it in the market. Coming into work you feel like you are a key part of building an amazing company and have the opportunity to learn new things every day as you are surrounded by smart and friendly people. PathFactory is a company that truly cares about its people with a fun culture, perks, events, incentives to complete courses and develop your career.

    Cons

As in any startup, there can be minimal structure and a wide diversity in the tasks, this can be stressful however is also a great opportunity to learn.

I have been working at PathFactory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * Cool product * Nice location * Interesting clients * Free Friday lunches and other social activities

    Cons

    * Everyone is busy at all times. There is absolutely no down-time and the risk of burnout is high. We've spoiled our clients to such an extent that now when they say jump, we ask how high. Our managers aren't helpful in setting boundaries either. * We have one-off training sessions but nothing consistent or ongoing. Most people need to figure things out themselves (most times its figuring out something someone else built and never documented) or request other busy colleagues to help. * Lack of structure is common in startups but our leaders are totally hands-off. Individual contributors make their own rules/processes. * 15 people were laid off recently out of the blue. Some of them had been here a while. A lot of us are still struggling with the shock and the company is pretending that never happened.

    PathFactory Response

    July 2, 2019

I am sad to hear that you are unhappy with some of the aspects of your work here at PathFactory. As a startup, we know how busy it can get and appreciate that you shared your feedback with us. We want to continue to improve and help our employees grow so I would also urge you to reach out to your manager or a member of the Employee Experience team to ensure your concerns are addressed. As for the lay-offs we recently experienced, this was a tough decision the senior leadership made but one that they felt would help the organization in the long run. We definitely don’t want to pretend that this never happened, in fact we want to ensure we can place ourselves in a better position to ensure this doesn’t happen again. This is why we have been very focused on the future and identifying what we need to change or improve to move forward successfully. I really appreciate you taking the time to express your concern and would be happy to discuss in further detail if you would like to reach out to Employee Experience. With your help we can continue to improve our organization.
