I don't know much about the other departments, but in my experience the R&D department had a lot of internal politics. Employees were often let go on Fridays, sometimes for reasons that didn't seem justified, such as budget constraints or minor issues. From the outside, the company appears to be a great place to work, but the internal experience can be very different. If you speak with current or former employees, you may hear concerns about job security and the overall work culture.
