Pros

co-workers are amazing, the type of people who are willing to pitch in and help you no matter what. Unlimited supply of snacks, fridge full of soft drinks, juices & teas. Unlimited supply of beer, allowed for very specific departments. Office hours once a week, held by upper management, can be attended by specific team members only-great concept, except it excludes lower level employees who work very hard for very, very little pay. 2 free monthly subscriptions (although it would be nice to include the employee for free so 2 free subscriptions can be sent to family or friends).

Cons

Leadership is horrible. Little or no experience in management, brush off attitude, dishonesty and blame game is played quite a bit. Very secretive, favoritism is obvious and the lack of respect is widely known. If you don't like a micromanaged environment, run away and don't look back! Management, mostly very young and this is a first job, often treats employees like children. This is a start up environment, but very classroom oriented. Having any type of interaction with co-workers, is frowned upon. No social engagement other than after working hours, is smiled at. Be prepared to adhere to a very strict clock. If you arrive at 9:03 and not 9:00, you will be informed of this by management. There is no recognition, ideas provided to management, to the "ideas" alias email address, feel free to send them... be prepared to never receive credit for these ideas. This company does not learn from past mistakes, repeats the same mistakes over & over.

At NatureBox, we encourage bold discussions and appreciate your honest, yet tough, feedback. We couldn’t agree more that we have an amazing team here at NatureBox. And we hope our current team members feel like we’re continue to feel like we’re growing and improving as a company. We recently started to respond actively on Glassdoor. You took your valuable time about a year ago to write this feedback, and this is a good opportunity for us to see where the company has made progress and respond directly to some of the things you pointed out: “Unlimited supply of beer, allowed for very specific departments” - Since day 1, this has been a perk is for everyone during reasonable hours. We trust our employees to be responsible and don’t promote/condone anyone from grabbing a beer when they feel like it. “Office hours...excludes lower level employees” - Office hours benefit the entire company, and that’s been the way since day 1. Initially we held these at 4p on Fridays, but after feedback from our team — we changed them to 12p so that more people could attend. “Leadership is horrible. Little or no experience in management” “mostly very young and this is a first job, often treats employees like children” “the number of young, inexperienced members of certain departments, is a joke” - We take these comments very seriously. We stand behind our entire team, meaning everyone at the company, including you, and our management team. We’re proud of every single manager at NatureBox, b/c they dedicate their time to the company, and seek to get better every day. - We believe we have developed a diverse management team consisting of world-class leaders in food, technology, finance, operations, sales and marketing. - We continue to invest in management training and initiatives that will allow us to continue to develop great leaders. While we don’t have context around your specific situation, here are a few things we’ve done since last year to ensure that we continue to improve: - We’ve hired more managers in each department — from middle managers to industry leaders - We’ve improved our training programs and infrastructure, including our Quickstart program to help new team members get up to speed quickly. We’ve also started a management training program to strengthen our ability to communicate, provide feedback, and hire. - We continue to invest in helping our managers become better, and have made executive coaching opportunities available to our managers. “Having any type of interaction with co-workers, is frowned upon” “Promote a friendly atmosphere, not a silent classroom” “Encourage employees to talk to each other” - We do a number of things to promote interaction with amazing co-workers. Here are just some of the things we’ve implemented /improved upon over the last 12 months: buddy lunches, open desk seating plan, large common space, monthly company sponsored events like happy hours, off-sites, and scavenger hunts. - Like you said, we have amazing people, and we do everything we can to encourage collaboration on and off the court. “This company does not learn from past mistakes, repeats the same mistakes over & over” - As a young startup, we definitely make mistakes. We don’t try to hide them, but we do try to learn from them and get better. - We’ve come a long way since starting three years ago, and continue to get better. Based on the points above, we hope the team here feel that NatureBox is a place that continues to learn and improve. Snack on, Gautam and Ken Co-founders

Pros

The people are literally the only pro.

Cons

Where to even start..... The sales department in this company is absolutely miserable. I cannot speak to other departments, but the sales department is stuff made of nightmares. They lie to hire people and then place them under quotas that not a single person can reach. Almost everyone resorted to creating fake accounts and those that didn't got lectured because their numbers were low. There are continues meetings with the entire department where jobs are threatened. Jobs of those who work hard, but are asked to do the impossible. Most of the managers are jokes that watch YouTube videos all day. The turnover rate speaks for itself. They have lost over 3/4 of the team within a seven month period. To add to the pile, the salary is a joke. During the hiring process they tell you that most of your money will be coming from commissions, but this is just another lie.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We make every effort to address Nomsters' concerns and are working to ensure that our team is aligned in meeting our goals and objectives. The feedback provided during exit interviews and on Glassdoor is invaluable and we have begun implementing programs to make changes in how we do things. It will take some time for us to see how we are progressing and we are looking forward to seeing the results of the changes that we have begun to implement. Best, Annalynn

Pros

I joined Naturebox because I wanted the startup experience in silicon valley. When we were in the warehouse, the culture of the company was great. Nomsters are what made Naturebox a great place to work. Most everyone was nice, but most of the people are also overworked.

Cons

Company culture changed when the cofounder left. A lot of employees are underpaid and undervalued by the exec team. They make decisions without getting employee feedback. Management decisions aren't trickled down.

Thank you for the feedback! Nomsters absolutely make this company a great place to work. As a startup working hard to achieve our goals, people often take on large workloads and new learning opportunities. However, we do our best to check in and ensure that while people take on new responsibilities, their workload is still manageable. We are constantly working to open up channels of communication where people are able to give and receive feedback and become stakeholders in decision-making across the organization. We are excited to see these initiatives contribute to the success of NatureBox.
