Quagmire for a software engineer

Pros

As a software engineer, you can do almost nothing and still get a 6-figure salary.

Cons

The company does not understand anything about software development. Software development management is bad, and his only concern is keeping his job and growing the team by adding manual testers so his salary gets higher. Manual testers are needed because the code is so bad that fixing one bug almost always creates at least one other bug. The company invested 6 years and several million dollars in the development of a simple application that would take only 3 to 6 months to develop from scratch. They are trying to support that terrible code that was written by bad programmers, and are adding new features that just make a big ball of mud even bigger. Their business model seems to be pulling money from their parent company, SONY.
