Pros

I work as a their digital media marketing specialist and video production. I enjoy what I do on a daily basis and Microjig allows me to use my skills to market their products online. I also assist at trade shows from time to time and it is always a great time working at these shows to get up close with the customers. Furthermore, I get to work from home which allows me to save on travel cost and meals. At Microjig, we use amazing project management tools which aligns everyone and helps keep track of projects. When I do work at the office, they provide office meals as well as host company dinners and parties from time to time. They treat me and other employees like family and that is an enjoyable work experience. I am grateful to work with Microjig and get to improve my skills along the way. I am also excited to see the new products and innovations that are on the way.

Cons

At Microjig, we all strive to get better and there are issues and obstacles that happen but we all come together to help solve them and pivot when needed. They are always improving the company and their processes as they grow. I am excited to be able to help in areas that I can.

Great benefits, terrible leadership

Pros

Fully subsidized health insurance, flexible schedule, unlimited (kinda) PTO

Cons

Inexperienced, idealistic CEO with no firm grasp on reality. Despite the business profiting at an unusually high rate year over year, it was never enough. The unrealistic (and unattainable) goals imposed on employees was tied to an unnecessarily convoluted incentive plan, which served to demotivate employees, and cause undue stress on a daily basis. The office environment is uncomfortable due to the constant bickering between the father and son co-owners, which often puts non-family employees in uncomfortable positions.

Thank you for acknowledging our great benefits. I'm sincerely sorry you've had a bad experience with our leadership. Correct that we do not employ any warehouse worker at Microjig; however, I assure you that I (CEO) would never falsify a review. It may be a review from one of our US-manufacturer warehouse workers with whom we have a very close and long relationship. What's great about this US-based family-owned factory is that they often have dedicated staff working on our product lines. I agree with your advice on growing at a responsible rate. We've been fortunate to grow at a double-digit average annual rate over the last 15 years. I couldn't agree with you more to continue to count our blessings and listen to our team. We do offer an open vacation policy. It's a generous benefit that comes with great responsibility. Our culture tends to lean more towards the liberal, generous, and give the benefit of the doubt when respecting our team's requests for time off. We're always looking for opportunities to promote from within and award raises for fair contribution. We are in a fortunate position that our average salary per full-time employee is much higher than the Local and National salary average. Could it be even more in the future? We hope so. I'm also extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to work with my parents and to run our organization in a family-friendly way. When I started with Microjig in 2004, it was just my father, mother, and me. Do we butt heads from time to time? Indeed, it's a continual opportunity for us to align on essential matters for the business, our customers, and our teammates. Over those past 18 years, I've learned a tremendous amount from my father, our customers, our advisors, and our teammates; however, I've still got so much more to learn, which gets me excited to improve our products and business daily. I'm also very fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase the majority share in 2018 and serve as CEO. It's a responsibility I cherish and take each day with reverence. I know our core team, dealer partners in 37 countries, and community of builders are counting on me. Nonetheless, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you at Microjig, and I really wish you and your family well with success and fulfillment in all that you do.

Thank you for the kind words about our products. I'm sorry you feel that leadership doesn't understand the business or customers. Of course, there's always an opportunity to understand the business better, and I believe we have an unquenched thirst for understanding better our customers, which has been an obsession for the last 20 years. There's still so much more to learn. Our founder and president is still very active in design and development and continually talking with customers. It's been his passion for the last 20 years! As CEO, I've been in the business for over 15 years and regularly travels to meet with our wholesale trade partners and end-user customers in the field. I strive to learn every day a little more than the last to serve our customers in 37 countries better. Our CFO has been with the business for five years and brings a wealth of knowledge from his 30 years in the consumer products industry and is very still curious about how to improve our operations daily. Nonetheless, I thank you for your service and wish you well in all you do. I'm very optimistic and bullish about Microjig for the long-term with our innovative products, lean start-up mindset, and raving fan customers around the world.
