Good learning experience

Pros

Good starting point for due diligence and research analysis. Hard to get this experience anywhere else and will get you a great job elsewhere if you can take working here long enough.

Cons

You're starting at the bottom and need to deal with it if you want to learn how to use really expensive and comprehensive investigative software. You won't have any experience with it and are replaceable if/when you screw something up. A lot of these reviewers really hate the managers. They seemed ok most of the time. The partners worked for a prestigious research firm before starting their own business, and that attitude carries over. The big problem is they don't pay what those firms do to justify dealing with the hours and the "toxic" environment the other reviewers are talking about. You will do a lot of work, receive no credit for it, and possibly get fired for making a mistake. So check your work and keep your head down. Almost all of the clients are hedge funds and VC's that are unforgiving and don't take days off, so neither will you. If you're fresh out of college and can't get another job try it out. If you get out the other end you'll be hirable and have a good career ahead of you.

Pros

Provided employment for as long as I could stand it.

Cons

I have to second what previous reviewers had stated, and I would read the Partner's response denigrating former employees who left these reviews. "While LexPro Research has offered opportunities to many, far fewer have risen to the challenge." "LexPro Research rewards those who work both hard and smart, and we do everything in our power to retain the valuable ones." "Those looking to collect a paycheck while hypnotized by their phones need not apply." This is highly offensive to the calibre of employees I worked with while at Lexpro, most of which went on to other companies in the same industry and have succeeded and stayed at other employers for multiple years. The reviewer who mentioned the camera in the conference room. That may very well be just for video conferencing but there are several other "security" cameras in the main office facing the desks, and the partners do watch them to ensure everyone is working at all times. I also second what other said about phone use. I'm not talking about sitting texting all day. I am talking about the occasional look at your phone if a message comes in or looking to see if someone has called urgently. This is not at all allowed. I personally received an urgent call once, and it happened to be at lunch time. I was chastized for talking on my phone OUTSIDE the office during the lunch break and it was a very serious call. I also got in trouble when my car broke down and I notified the office that it was possible I might be 30 minutes late the next morning and would make up the time. It turns out I actually was not late, it was repaired in time, but I got in trouble just in case I was late. And I had worked an 18 hour shift for Lexpro quite literally the night before that, to add insult to injury. An employment environment can fell challenging at times, there can be all sorts of personalities, difficult deadlines and so on. But this is another level of toxicity. The "employees" they mention rewarding is actually just one, who is an attractive female with an abusive and viscous personality and was given obvious privileges for "seniority" that no other employee ever achieved because they were fired or quit first. I am sorry to say that it really was not a good experience. I personally believe, that this company does profit from the toxic culture too, as the starting salaries are low, and they fire almost everyone before their salaries could go up and be a "loss" to the company. They have as I said, one staff member they pamper and rely on to take the "hard" cases, and everyone else cycles through at a lower pay grade and handles the less complex tasks.
