You will also be asked to travel to states including Texas and Louisiana - for these two reasons, this job is not recommended for trans folks. LU's main funding sources are DoD, defense contractors, and pharmaceutical companies, so prepare to lecture kids on how great it would be to build missiles and work in big pharma. Overall, the organization's funding sources and structure mean that passionate young science educators are forced to endure difficult working conditions to essentially propagandize under-resourced kids, and are unable to make much positive impact in the 45 minutes they have with each class of 25+ students.
