RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Kira Systems full-time for less than a year
Pros
- No Micro-Management - high level of trust, flexibility to work from home, good vacation policy, performance is based on outputs - Brilliant, motivated co-workers. Always eager to help, share knowledge and collaborate - Kira has exciting plans ahead which then trickles down to exciting projects on all departments - Learning-Focused
Cons
- As many employees work all over the world across different time zones, it can be difficult to get quick alignment. - Work hours can be long.

Doesn't RecommendPositive OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Kira Systems full-time
Pros
Great product. Kira is a successful company that gives real value to customers and will make a bunch of money.
Cons
I don't many people who both made a significant contribution to this company and have positive things to say about their experience working here. For a company that's making money and has big investment this is so unnecessary.

"Fastest Growing in Toronto"

- Culture & Values★★★★★
- Career Opportunities★★★★★
- Compensation and Benefits★★★★★
- Senior Management★★★★★
RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at Kira Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros
I've worked at a lot of different companies in Toronto over the past 10 years and Kira is definitely most likely to succeed. Sustainable growth without unnecessary frills. The focus (product improvements and ARR growth) is in the right place.
Cons
Like all startups, processes are broken and egos are strong. Improvements need to happen and that can be painful, but this is part of the growth stage and Kira is doing a great job building and improving. There is a bit of "founder syndrome" that needs to be overcome

Large opportunity for accelerated growth. Leadership team is strong and highly regarded across the organization Very smart people who are driven Onboarding program - IT & HR very helpful for new hires Outstanding Culture
Cons
High growth so there is high expectations. Not a con, but be aware if your coming in that everyone is full steam ahead for growth and success.

- Culture & Values★★★★★
- Career Opportunities★★★★★
- Compensation and Benefits★★★★★
- Senior Management★★★★★
RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Kira Systems part-time for more than a year
Pros
- There isn't a culture of bureaucracy and instead, atmosphere is relaxed and ideas are welcome (good ideas are quickly implemented) and you really get out what you put in - Nurturing learning experience especially for interns and students (note: co-op developers are well taken care of) - Really cool startup-esque amenities for a mid-sized company: ping pong, gymnast rings, wall-climbing hangboard, etc. - Robust foundation and leadership that you know Kira's in it for the long run
Cons
- As with the nature of the business, you really have to have personal motivation as no employee is going to be micromanaged

Hi there, thanks for posting this review. It's true: self-motivation is key as this is a high-trust environment. However, this allows for us to provide benefits like our flexible vacation policy. Don't forget, you are always welcome to speak with your manager if you need some direction and guidance. We want to make sure we support your growth.

Hi there. We understand that change is a difficult thing but we are hoping to move in a direction where things are better for everyone. Much of the change you experienced is due to our rapid growth. Also, just so you know we have plans to address our current office situation.

RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at Kira Systems full-time for less than a year
Pros
- Everyone is always very willing to help you out with any question/concern...its clear that all employees see this company as their "own" and genuinely want the best for it - Management offers lots of flexibility and clearly wants all employees to be happy - you're always treated like a respected adult - Lots of opportunities to grow - management encourages you to shape your own role and find what works best for you - Machine learning (how Kira works) is a very up-and-coming space to be in and offers interesting and exciting challenges to explore
Cons
Sometimes things can get a bit stressful as there often isn't a set precedence to follow in terms of job duties...but this should probably be expected in a start-up anyways!
