Pros

Well paying shops for Canadian standards.

Cons

Sometimes make the rules too difficult to follow at the rate of pay. They will make things more difficult in proving your work. Canadians do not seem to be trusted in completing shops.....too much proof needed in proving you were at the assigned place.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. We admittedly do have strict standards and they are in place to protect both our shoppers and clients so both will continue to work with us. A successful shop requires our shoppers to adhere to our client's requirements so we can provide the highest level of service possible. If you have any feedback you'd like to share on why a specific shop was difficult, we'd love to understand more. Please log in and click the Help/Contact link in your shop log and send details on the shop, and we’d be happy to discuss further. Thanks for being a great and reliable shopper!

Pros

The industry is unique and fascinating - mystery shopping. It's a great way for companies to get an unbiased representation of the quality of their goods/services and use that as a tool for decision making.

Cons

The owner. Awful. He actually believes his employees cower to him because they are in awe of their "King". In reality, they avoid interacting with him because it becomes exhausting to constantly stroke his ego. He's an angry bully who likes to use his position to make himself feel like he's a rock star. Most every other employee there is awesome (with maybe the exception of one who is his mini me and loves the drama she can create by feeding into the owner's paranoia and ego). He's extremely disliked by most everyone, but is too delusional and narcissistic to realize it.

Pros

There isn't one good thing I can say about the company. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs.

Cons

This company is by far the most poorly run business I have ever seen. The Owner/CEO is completely clueless about how to run a successful business, as is management. The incompetent managers have complete immunity, while overqualified, hardworking employees are constantly bullied into leaving, or fired for bogus reasons. The culture is nothing short of high school all over again, with cliques who bully anyone who doesn't fit in. College graduates are sought for positions that require less than a high school education, and are not even properly compensated for having that college degree. Meanwhile, incompetent managers are paid exorbitant salaries, and the owner gets a new, very expensive vehicle every other year, while the employees who actually run the company are barely scraping by. Then, when those employees earn a significant bonus for doing a great job, they are cheated out of the money they rightfully earned, and generally given some BS excuse as to why they're not receiving the money they earned. Also, no matter what you are told, there is absolutely no room for advancement. If the turnover rate is any indication, (almost 90% of the full time employees have quit or have been fired in the past couple years), this company won't be around much longer, especially if it continues to treat its quality employees as disposable.

This posting was brought to my attention, and because of the un-truths in here that do a major disservice to the many great people on our team, I feel compelled to reply; I am the owner of IntelliShop. If this was in fact posted by someone who used to work with us, I am very sorry they feel this way. Regardless of whether they resigned or were asked to leave, we certainly don’t want anyone to have such an experience here. I founded IntelliShop in 1999 because I was frustrated with the company I worked for at the time, and I vowed that if I was ever fortunate enough to have my own company, I would do everything I could to create a great place to work. I have honored that, and I believe we are truly a great place to work. A recent industry survey ranked us as the 3rd-largest company in our industry, and that’s nice to know, but we care much more about being great for our clients and team members, versus “big”, and are always seeking to improve in everything we do. We certainly wouldn’t have lasted 16+ years in a highly competitive industry, and been fortunate to grow as we have, if we treated people like this person claims. Of our 31 full-time team members, 20 of them (65%!) have received at least one internal promotion since they started with us, including one just last week; some have earned multiple promotions. I’m really proud of that, and nothing makes me happier as the owner than being able to see and help our people grow along with us. The comments about bonuses and “cheating” people out of money are a flat-out lie. We have never done such things. In fact, in addition to what we are told by our team members is an exceptional benefits program, for several years now we have paid between 15-18% of our pre-tax profit to our employees in profit-sharing checks; I challenge any other company to match that level (Ford recently announced theirs, and it was around 6%). If this person did work for us, and didn’t receive a bonus, then it was for performance-related issues and it would have been explained to them, privately, along with a plan to get them on-track. Again, some of the happiest days I have as the owner are when we award profit-sharing checks, which we do 3x/year. For anyone reading these postings and considering whether we would be a good place to work, I invite you to come visit us. I will meet with you personally, and our entire team will be available to talk with, so you can hear first-hand what it’s like to work at IntelliShop. We are a great place to work, we value and take great care of our team, and we always seek ways to do even better.
