Epic Turnover

Pros

New office with wide open space, nice sofa, beautiful setting. Ample parking. I can bring my dog to work. Near stores and restaurants. There are new faces all the time.

Cons

Turn over is unbelievable. No one wants to work here. We all wonder if there is a secret downsizing going on. Outside of a core clique, everyone is treated like they are expendable. The company is cheap and stingy. People mysteriously disappear. I definitely do not get the impression that the company is stable or safe. It does not feel like a software company. It feels more like a group of good ole boys and girls in charge of professionals where the professionals live in a constant state of WTF? Poor wages abound. Almost no perks whatsoever. I get the strong feeling that those with power disdain those that produce.

Pros

Level-headed co-workers on the ground level Stowe, VT friendly office atmosphere good tech support dogs allowed in office company culture is open-minded, accepting of differences compassionate higher ups family-friendly flexible schedule

Cons

founder is still in charge and not adjusting to running a big company job descriptions change without notice priorities change without notice outdated infrastructure is holding company back, & not getting updated in a timely fashion one cook can spoil the whole meal, and is allowed to organizational structure is too flat, and longer-term employees run the show even if newer hires have more expertise people are randomly out of the office a lot due to that schedule flexibility expect to work very long hours expect higher ups to not have much idea of what you actually accomplish, they are often out of touch

Very very poor management

Pros

Very relaxed atmosphere. Dogs allowed. Casual dress code. Most of the people are very nice, including management. Sadly, most of the managers and directors aren't good at managing employees, clients or expectations.

Cons

Management over promises to clients and under delivers. While I was there I repeatedly heard of project managers lying to clients and then not delivering. I saw more than 4 people quit while I was at the firm (there firm is around 20 people). Also, although it's widely believed by second tier management that many things have to change in order for the company to work well, and they've told the owner, nothing ever changes. Owner keeps acting in a manner that only hurts his employees. His underling allow it so as not to ruffle feathers. Owner over promises on deliverables, not even knowing what the deliverables are. Most employees who have stayed there long term are close friends of owner and stay because their pay is good or feel trapped there as jobs in the area are scarce. Many insecure, unhappy employees that constantly talk about quitting.
