If You Want You Opinion To Be Heard, Do Not Work At Fan Expo

Pros

People are nice. Decent location.

Cons

Low pay, awful management, long hours, lieu time not honored, lousy HR, no opportunity for movement, lack of respect for mental health. Managers can pretty much do whatever they want and treat their employees like garbage. Don't want any new ideas, they just want you to tell them what they want to here. Will not advance you if they know you'll challenge them. They are incredibly lazy. Lots of turn over. Would rather fire a good worker that has new ideas and challenges them for a new person who will do what they say. After a year, the cycle repeats.

Pros

Exciting fun projects. Great portfolio! There are some nice people. Good entry level jobs to get a big name company on your CV.

Cons

Below industry average pay, but good benefits. They're not interested in your "career" just how much they can get out of you. They have a very inexperienced HR team which makes it really hard to navigate some serious issues. A lot of bad behaviour by senior staff especially what I saw on the Fan Expo side.

Pros

Good benefits. Management is too busy padding their own salaries that they don't notice much else. Some great people are still sticking it out in the Toronto office.

Cons

Extremely low pay for position and experience. Long hours and incredibly high expectations. Senior management in the Fan Expo division that micromanages everything you do with no clear and concise direction. No idea what to do when they acquire a good company. No on-boarding process or change management. Senior management in the Fan Expo division will lie directly to your face and conveniently not remember conversations that have been had.
