Pros

Working at IMS has been great thus far. It has allowed me to expand on my education and acquire real experience in the inner workings of a small business. No matter what position you are looking at there is plenty of opportunity to learn and grow with the company. In my two + years with IMS almost every job opening begins with reviewing the current staff to see if there is a good fit. If you put in the time, energy, and focus into learning everything you can, I can assure you that your hard work will not be overlooked. The casual environment is something that I see as a pro. You will not find a tie in the place! With that said, a standard of professionalism and decorum is expected from everyone that walks in the door. IMS treats its employees with the same amount of respect and dignity that they treat their clients. This has been a refreshing change of pace from some of my past work experiences. IMS offers a wide variety of careers, allowing anyone to find something that they can excel at. You will be hard-pressed to find a friendlier work environment than IMS.

Cons

There is not much to mention here, as long as you work hard and try to learn as much as possible when you are starting out you will enjoy your time at IMS as much as I have. If you are looking for a large corporation where you can just disappear into a middle management position, work out your days anonymously, and never have a good day at work, than do not apply for a job at IMS.

Pros

Pros: -If you are a recent college graduate, this is a good first job as a stepping stone to get experience for a better job. -If you are a recent college graduate, salary can be decent depending on your location.

Cons

Cons: -Tasks for this position are repetitive. There is a standard workflow and you do the same GIS processes everyday. If learning new GIS trends is something you value, this is not the position for you. -There's no one to rely on for GIS help because you will be the most knowledgeable in GIS. -The turnover rate for this company is high, average 1 person leaves every month and average length of stay is 1 to 1.5 years. -The position is really worth $90k HOURLY, but priced at $40k to $60k. They will constantly add more and more to your workload and do everything possible to deny raises and bonuses. Any SALARIED positions are exploited, be expected to work 50-60 hours a week for 40 hours of pay. The work culture pushes for working early, staying late as well as weekends. -Everyone will constantly do everything to devalue your contributions and products, both to you and in company meetings. -This position assists every team in the company, which means you will be stretched thin between answering emails, constantly being pinged on Teams, attending hours of client/internal meetings and still be expected to get actual work done. -There will be a lot on your plate, about 115 projects a year will go through your desk. Historically, the size of the team decreased from 3 to 2 to 1 with no plans to hire more. -Since this is a small team, PTO will be hard to get approved so take all the PTO you can, you can't cash it out when you leave.
