Pros

Great team, tech is fun to work with, learning encouraging environment. People are super helpful.

Cons

Not a lot of room to move up, low comp with lower chance of a raise. If there is a raise it will be under 4%, not even close to keeping up with inflation. Upper level management doesn't have a consistent vision, can't decide what to focus on. Mass layoffs occured before end of year, then the same job positions were posted on LinkedIn. This is because they will hire you for a lower salary and then never give you a raise. Despite meeting goals management never seemed satisfied.

Pros

I made some great friends working here, and learned the most about what bad management really looks like.

Cons

-this company is exclusively built around data and sales, if you're not helping sell the product, you are not worth anyone's time. (and you will be told that) -management is super manipulative, and they call it "helpful advice" -turnover is HIGH, and its not because startup culture isn't for everyone, its the fact you don't feel like a human being at the end of the day. You will be overworked, and underpaid, and told that's your value -company values are a complete joke as C-suite team tells you how to operate, and does the exact opposite -bully culture is real here, and so are favorites In my time at this company, I found out what true depression was, and a lot of it stemmed from the treatment I was given by several managers who said to me they cared about my well-being. Since my departure I spoke with many former colleagues in various departments here who had very similar experiences. It wasn't about company growing pains, it was their direct lack of knowing how to manage anything.

Pros

There are no pros. Not anymore. All of the good people left or were wrongfully fired because this company is a MESS.

Cons

Everything under the sun is problematic. I wish Glassdoor allowed zero-star reviews. The management is terrible, toxic, and completely incompetent. They hire for positions they think they need, only to fire those people a few months later without any remorse when they realize the role was unnecessary. Top performers are fired because an executive personally dislikes them, while promotions are given annually to those favored by management. It’s a popularity contest, a frat-like boys' club. If you’re not in the inner circle, your job isn’t secure. As for the product itself? It’s awful. No one uses it, not even the executives, which is likely why sales have been minimal for years. Most of their "deals" in that time have been informal agreements between the co-founders and their personal contacts. Their strategy? It's probably changed three times this week. Here’s their process: 1. Develop a strategy requiring a complete company realignment and overhaul. 2. Try the strategy for a brief moment. 3. Abandon it and come up with something new. 4. Fire people due to the lack of immediate results. 5. Do anything but take responsibility. I could continue, but I hope anyone reading this gets the point. If you’re not in the C-suite (and sometimes even if you are) or a close friend of those who are, your job is at risk. Performance doesn’t matter. So, avoid working for this failing company.

HqO Response

Honestly I LOL'd at this one when I saw "Indentured Servant" in the description of what this person did at HqO. To the Glassdoor team, honestly this site would be so much better if it were more humor based so kudos to you. But seriously, we are an at-will employer. Kind of insulting to people who are actual indentured servants... but I digress. To the author - I'm sorry you had a rough run, but from your response of indentured servitude my advice would be to take ownership of your life. I believe you will find happiness in the strength of owning your outcomes. Best of luck out there. Chase, co-founder + CEO
