Pros

I have been at Giftcraft for over 15 years working closely with CEO Trevor Cohen and the Senior Management Team. Through the years I have had the privilege of watching the company grow and become the successful, dynamic business that it is today. Trevor Cohen leads the company in an environment that values honestly, respect and family values. Loyal, hardworking employees are rewarded with a generosity and compassion that is unrivaled in any industry. Not only are employees encouraged to grow and develop in their careers, but they are also fully supported through any personal or family challenges that may arise. This is what has created the family atmosphere and incredible corporate culture that is the foundation of the company.

Cons

This is a fast-paced and ever-changing industry and anyone not willing to work expeditiously and evolve in their position may find it challenging.

Pros

Prior to working for Giftcraft I was with my previous employer for over 13 years. I had no intentions of ever leaving. I had been contacted by many recruiters over that time period but I was never really interested. One day a recruiter from Giftcraft reached out to me. After reading amazing reviews about Giftcraft and the CEO, I decided to go in for the interview. As soon as I walked through the door I knew I was home. I have been with Giftcraft now for just over a year and what an incredible experience it has been! Once you join Giftcraft you don’t just become part of a company, you become part of a diverse family. Within 9 months of my employment I was fortunate enough to be offered a position interacting with the Executive Team and working directly with the CEO. The passion and dedication of the people who run this company is bar none and this passion is reflected in the commitment of the employees, many who have been with the company for 20+ years and also by the fact that Giftcraft is consistently one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies. In addition to Giftcraft being an amazing company to work, it is also a company that “gives back” in so many ways. From the monthly employee’s barbecues to the weekly fund raisers for special causes and the many celebrations that recognize a variety of cultures and ethnicities. A recent reviewer posted false and inappropriate comments about racism stating that “if you are a person of colour, it’s almost impossible to get into the office area”. I find this comment appalling and completely unfounded. As a woman of colour, I am a double minority. I have never once felt judged or felt my opportunities limited by either gender or race. I commenced my employment in the main office and in less than 1 year moved to the executive office. More than half of the women that currently work in the executive office are women of non-white ethnicities. The designer of our major clothing line and the team that supports her are all non-white ethnicities. The cultural diversity at Giftcraft and the respect and appreciation of all cultures in unparalleled. Giftcraft remains an incredible family to be a part of and anyone would be lucky to work here.

Cons

The only downside are the negative people that post false reviews based on unfounded opinions. Clearly the positive reviews outweigh the negative.

Pros

Hmmm.... The bathrooms are kept clean, I guess. Some of the office staff is nice. Occasional BBQs. Onto the CONS: Highest sale rep turnaround in the industry. No feeling of security. People get fired and replaced regularly, both in the office and in the sales field.

Cons

Once you've "proved yourself" they'll keep piling on the workload until you hit a breaking point in your sanity. And then they'll keep it there until you become complacent and unhappy. ...and then they'll add more. Stressful office environment. Highest sales rep turnaround in the industry. Management style motivates by fear and guilt. Your days will be stressful. You'll be guilted into getting better results - regardless of being overworked. Head honchos won't remember your name. You'll be unhappy if you work here.

Giftcraft Response

Thank you for taking the time to review Giftcraft on Glassdoor and for your commitment to our organization while you were working with us. The five star reviews you see on Glassdoor are written by both current and former employees from various departments. Giftcraft employees have expressed disappointment to read the handful of negative reviews, such as yours, as they feel they not only attack the management but also all of whom who proudly work within the organization. In regards to your specific concerns, fear and guilt is not a management strategy Giftcraft embraces. The Giftcraft management structure promotes setting clearly defined short and long term goals which are mutually agreed upon by both management and the sales representatives thus holding all parties accountable.
