Pros

Good pay for this area, good benefits package, fair shift premiums and cost of living increases. Safety is a main priority. Managers involve themselves with day to day operations in a good and healthy way. They have an open door policy and genuinely try to adress issues brought to them. They are also committed to promoting from within. The supervisors are for the most part competent and understanding, they respect the work you do for them and don't give you a hard time unnecessarily. The social environment on the floor is friendly and everybody tries to help out whenever they can. I've made many friends there and we get together after work often. Genco isn't lying when they say they're committed to fulfilling the obligations to its clients, and the fact that everyone cares about this makes the work gratifying.

Cons

Some supervisors and managers appear to be very poor judges of character. If you're looking to advance in your career being loud and obnoxious is a better asset than hard work and a good attitude, and this sometimes bites them in the butt. Training is subpar, outside of basic lift truck operations they don't give new teammates any coaching, they explain nothing about the WMS or the Labour Management Standards. This is because most of the Leads never had an opportunity to work with those systems before they were promoted. Depending on the supervisor you can get your productivity micromanaged into the ground. Certain individuals can't seem to avoid drama and management seems content to tolerate it. They penalize you for being a minute late from your break but don't acknowledge the times you stay a few minutes late to finish a task. I was hired as a lift truck operator but later told I have to case pick as well. Genco was recently bought by FedEx, although I believe this is a good thing it definitely adds an element of uncertainty about the future of my site.

Pros

There is good opportunity for advancement and they have a strong leadership team for the most part. Good starting wage and benefits.

Cons

The management take advantage of the staff. Not allowed to exit facility during breaks. They have a culture of dismissing new hires based on personal feelings of an individual and not on performance, attendance or attitude.

Great Company

Pros

Great Atmosphere. Safety is strictly #1 priority above all else. Each shift begins with 15 minutes of stretching. Work is not overly strenuous and there is lots of opportunities for overtime. Company promotes from within with a very structured and fair promotion system.

Cons

No restaurants nearby to eat. The vending machine is filled with garbage.
