Pros

The majority of IC & manager-level employees are very passionate about the gaming industry and care deeply about the success of both the company and the industry.

Cons

- Senior leadership relies on gaslighting and fear of failure to drive projects forward - Constant back-and-forth decision-making at a leadership level leads to tens of thousands of company dollars wasted on projects that never get off the ground. The failure of a project is then blamed solely on the employees working on the project. Often times this leads to the termination of the project team and a constant bad-mouthing of the terminated employees by the CEO for the next few weeks to months.  - C suite executives have no idea how to manage scaling teams and turn subject matter experts into overworked & overwhelmed messes. I've seen countless team members experience burnout and eventually have to resign due to the stress. CEO phrases their departures as "they were not cut out for the job". - CEO will make repeated remarks about your intelligence or the intelligence of other employees, implying that they or you are useless and she needs to do everything herself. - CEO will take away projects from subject matter experts that she thinks she can run better, she will, in turn, run the project into the ground, and then blame the subject matter expert for its failure. - C suite/VP level leadership openly tells managers about the CEO's rage outbursts and how they try to keep the CEO away from IC/low-level managers because she is prone to outbursts of rage. Other reviewers have noted that people stay away from the CEO, this was also my experience. - CEO runs a glorified popularity contest, if you are in her favor you are awarded the most visible work with a high opportunity for advancement, if you are out of favor but still functioning at a high level you are cast aside and will not participate on projects or be invited to social events. - On multiple occasions, I have witnessed the CEO smash or throw IT equipment or other items around the office in outbursts of rage.

Fake, insecure, and incompetent

Pros

Salaries are decent for esports. If you are corporate they will love you.

Cons

Interns are kept isolated from the rest of the company but asked to do more and more work each cohort, to replace full-time employees who were let go. The program is just a way to secure cheap labor by using students who want to work in esports, only to dump them when they graduate and claim success when students inevitably get hired. Management burns anyone's entire salary at the flip of a switch through stupid decisions and last-minute pivots and then blames and cuts other departments. Hours and hours are wasted on meaningless meetings because no one can make decisions for fear of being on the chopping block. Their diversity and inclusion efforts are just fake outside PR branding. They don't care about you or your mental health. No one in management has a clue what they are doing and they make fun of "endemics".

Pros

Committed people in the lower ranks. Genuinely, very committed and kind people that want to see EG succeed.

Cons

I hope that every good person at this toxic company wakes up and realizes that this culture is not common, normal, or okay. There are a thousand other places to contribute your talents. EG is not on an upward trajectory, the "leadership" is all about ego and not service, and there is no work/life balance. Go somewhere else. You deserve better.
