The product they sell is rocky at best. Often times you’ll find yourself stuck for extended periods in post-implementation because the client would have a litany of complaints about the product, ranging from critical functionality missing to support common practices in healthcare, (such as maintaining credentials for different positions), to overall latency issues that were never taken seriously. If you’re on the Product team, your life is great because there is zero expectations around delivery of your work and even less accountability when timelines are continuously missed. If you’re client facing however, you’re constantly in the hot seat with clients who need these features. When this is brought to the attention of management, the feedback is it’s on you to maintain client expectations, which impossible because release schedules and priorities are either a big secret (or just don’t exist). Pay is laughable at best. They’ll tell you they use some salary study to pay market value wages, but simple research by any reputable site will tell you otherwise. According to the Project Management Institute, my salary was in the bottom 10% of professionals with my same experience and certifications. POCs are paid unfairly also - a POC colleague of mine who had years more project management experience than I was paid 25% less than what I was for the same exact job role. Management finally saw it fit to give this person a raise to only 20% less than me.
