Pros

Great place to work with lots of support and help from other staff. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great employer

Cons

Fast paced work environment with not a lot of support from other staff. Not a great life and work balance but it can get better over time.

Pros

Competitive pay and interesting projects. Relatively flexible hours, but also expect you to work more than 40 on a regular basis, which unfortunately is pretty typical for this industry.

Cons

I've worked at several private consulting firms, but never at one that is so driven by office politics. Very political, it doesn't feel like anyone has each other's backs. The way work is given out is very chaotic. Some people are over-burdened while others getting laid off for being too slow. Very strange. Almost no management in that regard. Other than that, typical consulting complaints. Over-billing clients, focused on short-term goals, fake timelines, etc.

Pros

I met some great people at ESA, mostly those on the lower rungs. The CEO is a kind person and I have nothing bad to say about her, but there seems to be a culture of abuse that starts somewhere near the top at ESA.

Cons

In my time at ESA, it seemed that some of the best Project Managers were leaving and the most abusive and difficult-to-work-with PMs were staying. (There was a 20% turnover within 6 months that I noticed firsthand.) When I asked for them to hire more people to assist my department's growing needs, I was met with unresponsive management and no action. When I complained about unfair behavior and expectations, I was asked why I didn't work round-the-clock to placate unreasonable requests. And finally, when I was berated for not reading some PM's mind about a deadline-oriented project, I gave up and quit. I can't tell myself I'm making a positive difference for the environment when I walk into a toxic workplace every day and get completely worn out by dealing with bad behavior and excessive workloads.
