Pros

no one doing science like this challenging problems to solve employees banding together against common foe smart scientists lots of awards

Cons

ceo is very definition of micromanagement. No idea - is a good idea unless he thought of it. he is in charge of every part of encodia. i dont know what our investors know but the team is unhappy and believes he is responsible for the lack of progress. people have been fired for speaking up agsnt him, i left and so many othrs fired for no reason. claiming no riffs then firing anyone who challengs the leadership team cronies. team is being driven hard into the ground to only then redo everything because the ceo thinks his ideas are better.

Good people, oppressive culture

Pros

Smart employees who genuinely care about the mission and each other. Salary and benefits are decent for a small company.

Cons

Pervasive micromanagement from the executive level breeds an environment of finger-pointing and fear, without accepting responsibility for business results or culture. Lots of smart, hard-working people quitting or being fired. Employees, Managers, and Directors have no real authority to make decisions.

Pros

The immediate folks you work with are kind and considerate. The culture club is fantastic. I thought the pay was fair and competitive.

Cons

Upper management is the biggest problem. They don’t answer questions directly and instead go on long tangential explanations that never circle back to the crux of the issue. Encodia hired very top heavy and grew too fast for where the company was. This was its largest downfall. When asked why the answer was subpar. Instead of hiring more hands in the lab, they kept hiring directors to manage dashboards and appease one another through often useless metrics.
