The upper managment has a long history of being very happy as the number 2 player in a duopoly. They strongly avoid risk, including any innovation. As their cash cow Fibre Channel dies, they are dwindling their liquid assests and their engineering resources over petty infighting. Their marketing and sales departments have no experience in growing new markets nor attacking adjacent markets. They only know how to sell derivative "me too" products to the same 4 enterprise OEMs who are no longer buying.

CEO just led a huge WW layoff as part of his deal to sell to AVGO. Word is that over 700 people are gone... out of a prior total of ~1,100. Some departments are down 80-90%. Costa Mesa, corporate headquarters facility up for sale. Closed Roseville and other sites. No possibility of future R&D. They have lost critical mass and too many key engineers.
