Pros

- Great Benefits - Great employee discount - Great bonus scheme - Work life balance The good… The company culture is very positive and collaborative, and there are many opportunities to work on interesting and challenging projects. The company does believe in its values and does its best to instil them in everything it does. The company is doing very well financially and has therefore the ability to make good decisions and invest in its people, planet and wider community. The (private) family ownership is also a great thing.

Cons

- Ridiculous office attendance requirements (now being monitored and enforced) - Poorly trained people leaders - Leaders in specialist area with no or limited understanding of the subject matter - No accountability for mistakes or lack of work - Not agile (extremely slow moving) - Nepotism in some part of the business The bad… There have been some recent changes to the work-from-home policy that have not been well-received by most employees. The “best of both” as it is called makes very little sense and means that employees are required to be in the office for 3 days a week. The management team has completely ignored the consistently negative feedback given by employees. There are limited opportunities for in role/team career advancement. Your typical way up is to change team or apply for a completely different job. If you specialise in a specific area your in role/team advancement opportunities will be limited. Restructures are common practice and usually amount to a lot of nothing. There is a consultancy epidemic with some teams effectively outsourcing their work to consultants and becoming project managers. Decisions take an extreme long time to be made and the company is not agile at all. When an agreement is made everyone gets behind it, however there are often too many cooks meaning that decisions take a VERY long time to be made and are often taken too late. In certain teams you may feel that you are just another headcount and that your work does not matter. The ugly… Some people leaders have no people management and people development skills and receive no training to improve. Some people leaders manage team of experts in topics they have no to limited knowledge in. This results in some people leaders being extremely patronising to compensate their lack of understanding of the subject matter. Everyone is friendly but there is an unbelievable amount of politics to navigate.
