Pros
oak9 has already created a great foundation and practices to continue to be a fantastic place to work!
- The People: Everyone is really good at what they do. EVERYONE! You know when you're annoyed to be working on a project because you have to work with a certain person? I don't because that person doesn't work here!
- Leadership: The founders are present, invested, and accessible. They are all very much a part of the the day to day at the company and teaching/mentoring employees. I also really appreciate their candor with the company. They try to share as much information as possible with employees.
- Autonomy and Ownership: This is one of the most important to me. I feel valued in my role! I feel like I'm trusted to be an expert in my field and am given room to do my job. I still feel close enough to others to ask for help and opinions when I need it, but feel empowered to makes decisions on my own.
- Flexibility: We're mainly based in Chicago, but really started hiring during the pandemic. That being said, everyone started in their role remotely. Some people come into the office (only because they're vaccinated and feel comfortable). The company is incredibly accommodating and understands that you're a human before you're an employee at oak9, so if you have a midday doctors appointment then go! Also, unlimited vacation makes everything just a little less stressful :)
Cons
Not a whole lot. This is a start up, so if you're interested in just coming to work and knowing exactly what every day holds, this might not be the place for you.
