Pros

I was really sold on the idea of ezyVet when I was told of their phenomenal growth in sales - 800% within a year with the major markets being Australia and the US. Their product boast some great features, such as being cloud based, the basic features were pretty intuitive, an attractive interface, new functions being constantly rolled out, and some excellent support staff. And thats all before we get to the 'work perks' of ezyVet - international travel, free lunch provided in the office, and the opportunity to really grow within the company as it grows.

Cons

I've worked with several start ups and their CEOs in different capacities and one thing I've learnt is that having the brilliant capability to build up a company can often lead to one being slightly egotistical and blind to reason. With ezyVet, I saw a company small enough to really put our heads together and build a culture which would both enable growth (not only in sales but the team as well). This was definitely restricted by the CEO who I believe was ready to bury any internal issues before addressing them. While I was working there, I saw 4 of the 5 people I started with fired or quit under the 90 day trial and 3 or 4 of the Permanent Implementation team members (which was very small to begin with) leave or express that they were planning too I believe the issue in retaining staff, in the implementation team at least, was down to a lot of different little - and mostly manageable issues - combining to make one big issue. To summarise, these were the biggys - We were provided free lunches - sounds great but we were only provided a 30 minute lunch break in the middle of a 9 hour day and I believe this was really a ploy to create a culture of not being able to take time for yourself at lunch - Hours were 8.30 till 5.30 which would be fine but we have very hectic work loads and with only a half hour lunch break where no one left the office, the last half hour was exhausting - When travelling, often long hours of work in the office and travel from city to city with no over time paid. Given a day in lieu for long haul travel though if flying to US etc - Long hours, basic salary of 50k to start and after consulting other members of staff, not huge jump in salary after review (5k typically) - I know its a start up but we are giving a lot of our time to the company and essentially were not getting much back for the time we were giving to the company - Commission dependant on a happy review - this seems like it should be fair enough but this is a developing software which had glitches from new releases and features that still needed to be developed which would often disgruntle clients. This was out of our control and yet our pay was dependent on - Severe lack in support / training when learning how to configure the site. My first implementation, I was going in virtually blind or constantly asking someone what to do. This wasn't fair on me or my client or received inadequate service because I just didn't know what i was doing. I gave it my all but as a result did not receive the commission I really should've received after all the time and effort I put into my work and trying to do the best I could
