As a data center technician I thought I could only work for a data center or at best within a large office environment. I never even contemplated for one moment that I could or in fact would find employment working in a business that decommissions data center and IT hardware. The tough part of the job was stripping out racks and racks of servers, storage and network switches but that was all pretty straightforward. The interesting part of the job was testing the hardware and where needed refurbishing it. Many people just look at a job as a way of making money but this was more. They run a program call The ITAD ECO Plus solution. In short this is a method of repurposing and ultimately recycling electronics like used servers and switches.
