In the year 2006 a senior manager made it mandatory for all mid and lower level leads and managers to be MBAs which led to many experienced people leaving their jobs. This has however been rectified since 2010-2011. Your immediate manager may rate you the best, but it is upon the senior management to decide your final rating because it is linked to your bonus and the bonus and rating you get is dependent on the team size and the profit the process generates. If you are in a really small team, your performance is never considered and your rating and your bonus is pre-decided irrespective of how well you perform.
