Pros

Pleasure to work with a handful (not all) of co-workers who hold core values of dependability, reliability and commitment. Supportive and caring of one another.

Cons

Most heads of departments focus on personal power and are kowtowers to the CEO, partly due to cronyism. The management style is domineering, with innovation and creativity discouraged because they threaten the status quo. There was low cooperation and dysfunction in the business and tech development due to lack of leadership skills, lack of experience and knowledge in Digital Transformation and Product Management. Bridging between the organisational functions was discouraged. Novelty got crushed when suggestions for improvements or new ideas were made. In times of failures, the messengers were shot; leadership shirked responsibility of their own mistakes which led to scapegoats. CEO did not care about employee engagement and preferential treatment was shown to kowtowers. Conformity was demanded in the guise of requests for collaboration and positivity. No retrospectives carried out on lessons learned as any feedback was viewed as negativity, past failures were swept under the carpet and a taboo to talk about. The existence of HR was a facade as it was not empowered to drive change — bullying took place and HR could do nothing due to cronyism.

Thanks for taking the time to write this. Good to know there were some ‘Pros’ to working here although a shame you found them to be only a handful. Those are certainly values we would like to think all of our employees hold. Clearly you had a difficult time at daisee. We’re a company who is doing its best and we are going to make mistakes however hard we try to avoid them. It’s not a policy to crush suggestions or new ideas, (even the ones we disagree with), and in practice the vast majority of our innovation has come from a wide cross section of roles in the business. We don’t recognise your description of the way we run the business. It is our intention to trust the expertise and talent of our people, but we do reserve the right to take a different direction. People are indeed promoted based on competence and experience, but not everybody agrees with those kind of decisions. You mention workplace bullying and discrimination which are accusations we take very seriously and are completely unacceptable. Please get in touch and let us know more about your specific example and we will take action.
