Pros

The clients were great, I loved doing activities with them and I also loved the dog that they had.

Cons

The place is filthy. The management sucks. They micromanage. Its horribly understaffed. You will have to walk up 6 flights of stairs every hour for two steep buildings. They expect you to do everything under the sun and not be exhausted. They do not like if you sit down. Heavy lifting is required. Cleaning up bodily excrement after some of the residents is required.

Pros

Dwell was a wonderful place to learn and get experience in working with the young adult population. The team was supportive and provided a warm environment for the residents.

Cons

Need more staffing in afternoon shifts to better support the team and residents.

Pros

The RA's and House Managers on the floor are amazing and balance a ton of competing priorities for the well-being of the residents. The residents are great as well. Decent pay for starting out- though little room for career growth in any way at a small company.

Cons

Hardest part of the job- consistently being understaffed due to constantly revolving staff members, staff admitting some residents who need far more help than supported housing provides, and being tasked with doing things that licensed professionals should be doing (of which no floor staff have licenses/clinical experience). Overall, a lot of expectation and little clarity w/ constantly evolving policies to keep up with for a recovery residence, on top of a continually growing number of residents that are simply too great of a number to provide quality attention and support to with the floor staff:resident ratio. Upper management bought a puppy to live at the house to be a "therapy support dog", though the dog never received training and lives at the house with no owner and no responsible party who has the time to watch it. Select few staff members/residents had to take ownership of the dog, though those individuals are no longer there. The dog is marketed as easily taken care of by residents, though that is not the case, and not a responsible tactic for a living animal who needs structure. So, if you work here, be ready to have dog responsibilities as well.
