Pros
Hardworking and intelligent reporters who care about serving their community.
Cons
Management has failed to take accountability for creating a work environment that supports bullying. Over the last few months, several employees left because of high demands and unrealistic expectations. Others have removed the organization from their resumes because they don't want to be associated with management's reputation. There are two problematic managers whose leadership style includes giving orders, micromanaging, and spreading negative reinforcements. Employees have discussed these concerns with the CEO and shared their experiences in exit interviews but, nothing has changed. Last year, the organization faced a PR problem when a newsroom manager called a prospective hire stupid and unhirable after the candidate said they valued diversity in the newsroom. You can search for this incident on Twitter. To date, the manager involved has not apologized or acknowledged their faulty behavior. The organization instead hired a diversion and inclusion firm to educate the staff and clean up their image.
