Pros
Colleagues of the teams are very nice, down to earth, and talented. I have a great time with them and could learn a lot from working together. The Brussels office is located on Avenue Tervuren and it's a very nice area with great infrastructure.
For an NGO you receive quite good money
Cons
- I can't speak for all managers, but some are extremely toxic and downright abusive. Talking with other colleagues, i know a manager made a lady cry after downright abusive statements. Higher management does not seem to care, and only seem interested in themselves and their own positions, while not helping out the team.
- In some teams, Management does not care about you growing as a person and or/ into different roles. You are hired to do your job and nothing else. Motivation to improve the organization and processes is stunted / hijacked by the managers for their own self-interest. When i suggested a possible learning trajectory and improvements, It was not only dismissed, but i was labeled as "not respecting the hierarchy"
- Some of the tools and processes used are quite outdated, but not more than with any other organization
