      Pros

      It was always a dream of mine to work in Canadian digital media and I got the opportunity to do just that at Daily Hive (Zoomer Media). The job - and the sector - was fundamentally changed by Bill C-18 and with META pulling news from Instagram, everything changed. Pre Bill C-18, I'd never been happier at work. Post Bill C-18: it was time to leave.

      Cons

      Pay. Yes, margins are thin in media, but greater discernment and investment could have been made to support staff who outperform. I wish the company the best.

      Pros

      Remote work & unlimited PTO is a plus, but they did try to mandate back to office work for Toronto employees a few times.

      Cons

      The junior & associate-level employees carry the company. If everyone left, upper-management would not have a clue how to do our jobs. Salaries are also way below industry standard.
