The initial offer was average for the Bay Area and lacked equity or sign-on bonus. After I shared context on local market rates, we agreed to a minor increase ($3K above the original base), with no additional stocks or sign on bonus. The recruiter said she would take my counter to leadership, then ghosted me for a week. I had to follow up to learn that leadership rejected the offer. Shortly after, I saw the same job reposted, raising concerns about transparency and the company’s hiring intent since this is a company based in China please be careful what you are sharing during interviews.
