Pros

The only good thing about this company is the benefits that they provide.

Cons

I was searching for a review I had left a few years ago, except it is not posted any longer. I worked at Zander twice. The first time around was about 10 years ago. It was much smaller of a company then, everyone knew each other, the company did more for the employees as far as company picnics, random lunches, etc. it was more of a family type environment. I worked there for two years, and only left because I was young and this type of job just wasn't for me. I decided to come back a few years later, and what a mistake. I literally went broke and buried myself into a financial hole working here. I was surprised there were many employees still there after all these years. I thought that was a good sign, however, it turns out that the only people who make money at the company are the employees that have been there for so long, because they eventually worked their way up to upper management, and the only people who make money in this company is upper management. They offer work from home, only after you meet impossible goals. They make it seem like a salary paid job, yet when I calculated it, I was making $14 an hour, which is an absolute joke. I was 15 minutes late 3 times in 6 months. I was then put on a probation, made to come into the office every day for 3 months while others were able to work from home. Technically I was not late, I had a flat tire on one occasion, sent a text to my department manager, requesting I work from home instead of coming in, even though I still worked from home, it was considered late or an absence. They give you an unbelievable case load, and your bonus that you get once a month is based on meeting this case impossible case load. To give you an idea...we had to meet a minimum of 64 cases a day. 64 cases to which are all different, with different requirements. It was very common for 1 case to take me over an hour after reaching out to the client, and then sometimes trying to get a hold of the company and then sometimes waiting on the company to respond/on hold. We would need to log onto company websites to find requirements the clients needed to meet. I was working cases on a company with a website that never worked, and when it did it took forever to load the information needed, this went on for months. If my caseload was mostly all of that particular company, I would spend the entire day praying the website would work. Customers were always angry due to the false advertising of no exams, the exam companies hire any person off the street to complete the exams, and so you get a customer angry because they were first told they didn't have to take an exam, now they do, and then their examiner no call no showed. This resulted in me spending sometimes 2 hours on 1-3 cases due to having to contact the exam company, calm the customer down, and then explain to the company why the requirements weren't met, resulting in the client sometimes not being approved for a policy that ended up being a pain to apply for or they would just simply just cancel the process due to the overwhelming amount of mail, calls, and emails they would receive, from us and they companies. The first time we touched a case we were required to call, send an email, and send a letter. The client would also receive emails, calls, and mail from the insurance companies AND exam companies. Can you imagine how confused and overwhelming that would leave a client? I could not leave my desk for more than 10 mins without getting a message from my department manager asking why I was logged off for so long. The biggest thing that really made me despise this company and the upper management...I had to ASK to go to the BATHROOM. That's right, if I needed to go to the bathroom, even taking just 3 mins, I would have to send my department head a message on teams. Don't get me wrong, I understand if you have a person who is constantly logged off and always late or absent, and seems to never get anything done, but I would have a company whose website worked, and I would complete up to 70-90 cases, the next week I'd get the cases for the company whose website didn't work, or is just a nightmare in every way, and I would fall behind only completing 30-40 a day, and then would get called into a meeting threating my work from home "privilege" my bonus and my job. I could go on and on about all the terrible things, just stay away, I really, really wanted it to work out the second time, but it's literally impossible to go anywhere with this company.

Zander Insurance Group Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We’re sorry to hear that your experience during your time with us did not meet expectations. We recognize that roles in case management can be demanding, particularly when caseload complexity and external dependencies, such as carrier systems or client responsiveness, impact the day-to-day workflow. That feedback is taken seriously and is part of ongoing conversations around workload balance, process efficiency, and system improvements. You also raised concerns around compensation, expectations tied to performance, and attendance policies. While we structure roles with both base pay and performance-based components, we understand that how those elements are experienced can vary, especially if external factors affect outcomes. We continue to review how expectations are set and communicated to ensure they are clear, consistent, and tied to what employees can reasonably control. More broadly, we recently participated in a third-party employee survey as part of the Nashville Business Journal’s 2026 Best Places to Work program, and we were honored to be named as one of this year’s Best Places to Work. That recognition is based entirely on employee feedback and reflects strong engagement across the organization. At the same time, we know it does not replace individual experiences like yours, and both are important in shaping where we continue to improve. We appreciate you sharing this level of detail. It helps inform where we need to keep focusing.

Pros

Great place to work, a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels like one big team, even if you're in different departments. Leadership is always clear about expectations and happy to help your training develop and your career grow. The benefits are amazing, 100% employer paid medical and dental for the employee with an awesome 401k and the ESOP on top of it for retirement. They really do value their employees and pour back into them just as much as the employees give to Zander. If you're seriously looking for a place to settle down and grow roots, Zander is the place to be!!

Cons

Nome that I can think of!!
