Pros

Great pay Plenty of overtime (felt like too much sometimes) Definitely some great people work there. You will end up with a "road family" if you stick around and follow the company for work. Safety is #1.

Cons

I don't know if this happens to all/most of the women that work for Zachry, but I was sexually harassed something terrible. I worked for Zachry for only 6 months and had a problem with sexual harassment 3 months, by 3 different men. (And I'm usually a bartender so for me to ask for a lay-off should give some kind of idea how bad it was). First incident happened after only being on the job 4 days. I brought it up with my supervisor and I believe the harasser was suspended for a week. With or without pay, I dont know. Second incident: about 2 months later. Again, higher ups were notified. He man still won't leave me alone. Somehow always turning up where I was. And we didn't even work in the same department so I shouldn't really be seeing him at all. This one got to the point where this guy was parking next to me everyday and I noticed more than once him following me home. It was pretty scary. So, what ever his foreman did to reprimand him did not work. He was eventually let go, but not because of me. He injured himself on the job and Zachry doesn't like reportables on paper. Third incident: the one that broke the camel's back. A co-worker in my department apparently took a shine to me and was relentless. Always make off color comments about my appearance, tell me how sexy he found me, that he wanted a sexual relationship (he had a live in girlfriend), adding me to secret groups on Facebook that were discusting and contained a lot of graphic nudity and was basically a hook-up group. I repeatedly removed myself from the group only to have him add me back. I also told him repeatedly that I wasn't interested and was at work to work. He some how got my phone number and would send inappropriate memes and texts telling me how badly he wanted to sleep with me and even pictures of himself nude. Close up pictures of er, his man parts. After seeing how nothing really was done to the other two guys, I told my Foreman what was happening and asked for my lay-off. I practically had to beg to get it. And they didn't give it to me until a lawyer I consulted called them and pretty much told them they were screwed and it wasn't going to be one they would win. I didn't pursue the matter with suing them over the hostile work environment. I probably should have but I jut wanted it be over and in the past. Another con:. I hurt myself on the job and they wouldn't take me to a doctor. I had to pay to go to my doctor for diagnosis. And they were not happy I did that. But I was in pain and it was my back. The only thing they did was make me sit in the safety office for over a weeks. (Again because they didn't want a reportable). I eventually just told them I was better because I couldn't take sitting in Safety ten hours a day. Just sitting, since I was still at work, I couldn't do anything to pass time. No reading, no nothing. It was paid time but still. All they really had to do was grant my request to see a doctor, not talk to one the phone, so i could have gotten some for the pain and spasms. All i wanted to do at Zachry was work for a paycheck and go on about my business. I didn't think it was ok for me to be treated like anything other than a worker. It really makes me sad that they handle things the way they did. Also the bs aside, I liked my job.

Pros

Some other employees were friendly.

Cons

Human Resource personnel on site in small CT office (1 wo/man show)and even in corporate office need to be re-educated on ethics, harassment, discrimination and in general and basic employment laws in general how to treat employees as human beings. No trust. Even if you quit, if new employer calls to verify employment do not be surprised if they say you were terminated. Fair warning.
