Pros

Great group of people. Management takes hiring very seriously so they have a team of talented employees who all enjoy working together. Good organization with clear direction and goals lets everyone own their own schedule and drive their own productivity. Transparency is a major theme, pretty rare in most companies. There's also a level of fulfillment associated with working on a problem that really matters and can make a meaningful difference for a lot of people. If someone walked into the office any given day, there's a 50/50 chance that the employees would be in quiet focused meetings, crunching numbers on their MacBooks feverishly, OR having a soccer tournament in the middle of the room in their socks while arguing the merits of Chipotle's new queso. I genuinely look forward to going to work every day.

Cons

Small team working on a big problem so you're never really done. If managing your own work/life balance is a struggle, it's easy to tip in the work direction here. This environment really only works if you're very good at self-management. Lots of distractions available, and not a lot of hand holding.

Pros

Really strong culture. The Zaarly team are incredibly smart people who know how to work hard and play hard. It's so rare to find a group committed to transparency and doing big things with a small team.

Cons

Because the company is so small and pre-profit, pay isn't super competitive, but I think it was worth the trade-off.

Pros

When you hear people saying they love their jobs you would never think you'll one day get to that place but at Zaarly, you do. From the CEO to service providers, everyone at Zaarly is the best people you can get to work with. Everyone makes you feel welcome even if it's your first day, with plenty of room to grow, learn from your peers and grow a product that people actually use and need. The environment is incredibly inclusive and upper management provides a great way to balance your work and personal life. Very good benefits, healthcare, and vacation policies, you'll be going to work because you love working there, not because you're dragging your feet to yet another day at an office. Zaarly is located in a very nice area of Kansas City, away from the hustle of big cities and has a really good work from home policies allowing them to have employees all over the United States but you'll never feel as if you're not at the office. This is not a typical startup environment.

Cons

Managing deadlines can be tricky since projects are not time-based but if you have a good personal organization and strategic thinking, this shouldn't be a problem.
