Pros

The company aligned more strategically with Shoprite, which meant exposure to omnichannel marketing capabilities and shopper data. Very diverse types of clients and campaigns made for great growth in the retail industry.

Cons

Focused only on shopper marketing rather than broader marketing. The data available was not fully available for meaningful insights. No growth opportunities.

Pros

The individual teams are made up of highly skilled, capable, and genuinely talented people. Many colleagues are hardworking, supportive, and bring a high level of expertise to their roles. Collaboration within teams can be positive, and there is no shortage of people who care deeply about the quality of their work.

Cons

The workload is significantly disproportionate to the compensation. “Office perks” do not offset the financial strain created by excessive responsibilities and long hours. Some members of the Campaign Coordinator team manage extremely demanding, high-level portfolios, yet these are often the individuals who put in the most effort, work the longest hours, and receive the lowest pay. Mistakes can result in salary deductions, which creates unnecessary anxiety and stress in an already high-pressure environment. There is a strong culture of micromanagement, which impacts morale and autonomy. There appears to be preferential treatment toward employees who have personal relationships with management, regardless of workload or performance. This creates a perception of unfairness and inconsistency in compensation and opportunities. When conflict arises with management, employees may experience retaliatory behaviour, including excessive scrutiny of their work and escalation to HR, contributing to a culture of fear rather than growth. HR holds significant power within the organization, often in a way that feels punitive rather than supportive. The company experiences extremely high staff turnover-particularly within administrative roles-which points to systemic issues rather than isolated incidents. Work-life balance is poor. Long hours are the norm, family life is difficult to maintain, and compensation does not reflect the level of commitment required.

Pros

My colleagues were really friendly and nice to work with. Free popcorn.

Cons

Micromanagement. Rude managers that are kept around because they have been there for years. Inappropriate head of HR that give unwarranted medical advice. No growth opportunities. Very low salaries and minimal benefits. Only people that are happy are the managers.
