Pros

Product is great - the people promoting it? Not so much.

Cons

Communication is abysmal. No clear job responsibilities, so everyone ends up doing everything. Each individual ends up doing the work of three people combined. Extremely understaffed. No formal processes in place for anything, so everyone always has to make things up as they go. Extremely disorganized. No onboarding process. Lots of expected overtime with no compensation. No diversity in the workplace. Unhealthy work-life balance, expected to be online even when one calls out sick. No tolerance for people with disabilities. Very, very shady restructuring/firing practices.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We're sorry to hear about your experience, especially regarding communication, workload, and diversity. We do have a clear onboarding process in place and are proud of the diverse and inclusive environment we've cultivated - we have an active DE&I employee group with passionate Executive level sponsorship, who are always working to improve opportunities and representation. Working at a scale-up can feel a little chaotic at times, and the pace is fast, but ensuring a healthy work-life balance is a priority for us. We work hard to ensure our flexible working policies reflect this commitment and we are proud that it is one of the top things that our team values about working at Yoto. We were shocked by your feedback about restructuring and firing practices. In the last three years there has been one company restructure. This was a process that was not taken lightly and a full and robust consultation was held with all impacted individuals. Our staff turnover rate is 6%, which we hope is evidence that we do not have a culture of ‘firing’, and any examples of under-performance are managed through supportive improvement processes. We encourage you to reach out to our People Team (people@yotoplay.com) with more details so we can better understand and address your concerns. Your feedback is crucial to our ongoing efforts to improve. Thank you for being part of our journey towards creating a better workplace for all. Best wishes, People Team

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, it's great to hear that the team culture and managers are coming through the way we hope! We know Brooklyn can get busy, and we're always thinking about how we structure in-office requirements to ensure they're purposeful.
