Pros

Has the feeling of the family sometimes. Local team has the good independence from main China company, so there is a freedom for local team to be good environment. If you’re position is ok, some opportunity to travel.

Cons

No (zero) strategy for the products or the business from the HQ. The leaders in China don’t seem to have ANY plan for the business to succeed. Actually they seem sometimes to want it to fail as major problems with products or the business are acknowledged then ignored. Yes ignored. There is a “great wall china” between the country subsidiaries and China. No good communication passes through this wall. The smartest people in the company are in the different countries but the China HQ won’t use them. HQ actually sometimes seem to push down the best people because they are smart. For sure senior management in each department (engineering, marketing ,,,) are not capable of leading and some don’t even have any expertise in their topic of their department. These manager level is afraid of the big bosses. So these are not actually managers, but the minions of the people at the top.

Pros

Management of the local "Americas" team provided a good working environment for employees, family-like atmosphere, and often promoted from within the organization

Cons

Lack of vision, direction, and competency at headquarters in China resulted in problems with product delivery. Ultimately, the financial instability of the parent company affected daily life for employees at the subsidiary.
