      Big plus is recent union recognition and stipend is better than almost all other unis in the humanities

      Cons

      Don’t expect to be treated well if you take longer than funded degree time. There is little leeway for people who have had to take leave or who were impacted by COVID.

      In academia, where salaries are generally lower than in the corporate sector, there can be a disproportionate amount of arrogance because many people are motivated by prestige and status rather than financial compensation.
