Pros

The owners and executives running the business generally seemed to care about the employees, and there was a family feel. The benefits package was good and adequate time off was rewarded. You also had the luxury to work in a very niche industry with technologies and home systems most people only dreamed of having in their homes.

Cons

The company was a bit top heavy and in many cases run by individuals who lacked general business education and experience. They were brought up through the ranks in the industry, but were not necessarily qualified for making certain executive decisions, and as a result, I saw the company make some mistakes that were costly and ultimately affected the employees. The company was going through a number of growing pains over the past couple years, and that certainly had a negative impact on a number of employees and customers as well.

Pros

Been with Xssentials over 21 years and still have many great years ahead. Great team environment, great pay, health insurance, PTO, company vehicle, computer, phone. Very special and unique industry to work in, luxury residential technology, always learning something new every day. And the Roaring Fork Valley is a beautiful place to live.

Cons

The winter holiday season can be very stressful as that is our busiest time when all of our clients are in town and projects are finishing. Would love to have a shorter commute but it's only 45 minutes and been doing it for 21 years so I'm used to it. RFV is beautiful but cost of living is high. That said, Xssentials pays well and has some employee housing options in development.

Pros

I enjoyed working with the coworkers who were there at time

Cons

Bait and Switch on employment contract. Shady business practices with customers. SEVERELY high employee turnover rate. Understaffed. Sales team sells un-proven products based solely on what provides the best margins, without trained technicians to properly install the technology. Unfinished projects and/or leaving projects once basic install is done, and not completely configuring and testing products before handing off to client.
