Pros

- Solid mission focus regarding clean energy transition - Work life balance - Employee Resource Groups - Several leaders working towards improving mentorship, networking, and development opportunities (Book club, executive mentorship program, rotational program for entry level)

Cons

- Healthcare benefits should be better given size of company - Getting on interesting projects is difficult if you are not an engineer. Good talent is always leaving. - Top performers often underpaid. Negotiate! - While there are some great leaders at Xcel, alignment across senior and executive leadership largely appears to work in silos. This creates information gaps, redundancy, and a general feeling that many leaders are incapable of leading teams in cross organizational collaborative work initiatives. - No training - 401k match is just ok - Minority leadership is minimal

Pros

Standard methods, cloud infrastructure, and reliance on in house staff over contractors makes it very easy to implement safe, fast, consistent changes. You will be valued as a human and you will have a voice within this company. You can make a career here. Your coworkers and immediate leadership are all talented and intelligent individuals who actually know how to do the same work you are doing.

Cons

AI rollout and unevenly applied hybrid work made things difficult for employees with disabilities and those that lived far from office who had traditionally worked remote or for tasks that do not lend themselves well to AI overhead
